Can't play blu rays

Your HP computer should come with Quickplay, open the program, click on DVD, on the upper right hand corner on the left side of the rectangular box there should be an icon that looks like a wheel or a gear, click on that and click on Updates, should solve your problem.

I cant play cd or dvd on my laptop

You can install or reinstall DVD driver onto your laptop. 1. Open Device Manager using devmgmt.msc command and enable "View -> Show hidden devices" option. Now locate the DVD/CD-ROM drives and IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers items. 2. Right-click on each entry present under both "DVD/CD-ROM drives" and "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" sections one bye one and select Uninstall. 3. Once all have been removed, right-click again and select Scan for hardware changes. The drives will be rediscovered and when the drivers are loaded back, the drives will re-appear in My Computer window. You can also try to restart your computer. Then you should also have a DVD player program on your laptop. You can try Leawo Blu-ray Player which can play both Blu-ray and DVD movies.

DVD Player region coding changes

You can only change the region code 4 times then it locks on the last change.
There are some firmware upgrades that can change the drive to region free, if you can screw it up or put in the wrong frmware upgrade then the DVD drive will be a piece on junk.
I suggest you install a region free software that will allow you to play and region DVDs.
Go to www.dvdidle.com to get their Region-Free software, it is not very expensive.

Media player classic will not play videos

To enable MP classic to play different video formats you need to install codecs. Think of them as drivers used to operate a printer scanner etc.

I suggest you download the Basic K-Lite codec pack and close WM player. Install the codecs and try playing the video again. To start the download, click here.

Other options are to use another player. The following two are free and more user friendly:

VLC

GOM

Note: If you cannot download from the above links or if they do not work, go to google.com and search for the desired program like klite codec etc.

If you are still unable to get WM play videos then it is likely that it is of an unrecognized format like mov, rm. etc If so then try installing Real Player or Quicktime player as required.

There can other issues be also like drivers not installed but just try the above and we'll move on to next solution if needed.

Hi! You can try Deleting cookies:How to Delete CookiesClearing cookies from your Web browser is simple and easy, and doing so could help protect your private data while you're online. Here's how to do it.

By Michael King, PCWorld Nov 3, 2011 3:00 am

Cookies are usually delectable delights, but Web cookies can sometimes be less than delightful. These little files hide in your computer so that your browser and websites can track your browsing sessions and save certain useful information, such as account names and passwords, for later retrieval. Although cookies may seem harmless overall, they can threaten your privacy if an attacker tries to use them maliciously.

Because of that threat, most modern browsers make cookie storage easy to understand and control. They also make it simple to remove individual website cookies, or even to delete cookies from your computer entirely. Here's how you can perform the latter task in some of the most popular browsers.Delete Cookies in Google Chrome

1. If you're running Google Chrome version 14 or higher, click the wrench button in the upper-right corner of the Chrome window. From there, select Options.

2. In the navigation pane of the Options page, click Under the Hood.

3. Under the Privacy section, click Content Settings.

zoomicon.pngcontentsettings-5232058.pngClick the 'All cookies and site data' button in the Content Settings window.

4. Under the Cookies section, click All cookies and site data.

5. When the list of cookies appears, click the Remove All button to delete all cookies stored in Chrome.

Alternatively, you can navigate to the Cookies section of your Chrome browser and click the Remove All button to delete all cookies in one fell swoop.Delete Cookies in Firefox

1. Make sure you're running the latest version of the Firefox browser, and then select the Firefoxmenu. From there, select Options and then Options again.

2. Click the Privacy tab to bring up your user-privacy options.

3. Under the History section, click the Remove Individual Cookies link.

zoomicon.pngcookieswindow-5232059.pngClick the Remove All Cookies button to zap them.

4. At the bottom of the Cookies window that appears, click the Remove All Cookies button to delete all cookies associated with your Firefox browser.Delete Cookies in Safari

1. Confirm that you're running version 5 or later of Apple's Safari browser, and then click the Gears menu in the upper-right corner of the Safari window. From there, select Reset Safari.

zoomicon.pngresetsafariwindow-5232063.pngIn this window, check the bottom box, 'Remove all website data'.

2. Check the bottom box, labeled Remove all website data. You can uncheck everything else if you want to remove only cookies.

3. Click the Reset button to eliminate all cookies associated with Safari.Delete Cookies in Internet Explorer

1. Upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer. Select the Tools menu from the Internet Explorer window, and click Delete Browsing History.

2. In the Delete Browsing History window, check the box next to Cookies. You can uncheck everything else if you want to remove only cookies.

zoomicon.pngscreenshot2-5232067.pngFrom here you can choose which parts of your browsing history to erase.

3. Click Delete to remove all cookies stored in Internet Explorer.

Congratulations, you've successfully cleaned out your browser's cookie cabinet. Although cookie files pose a potential threat to privacy, don't forget that they can also improve your Web browsing by making it faster and more convenient.

I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa!

PC is stuck at the hp invent screen on boot. tried

Hello and thanks for using FixYa.

Often when the machine gets stuck in such a way, the hard drive could be faulty and its causing the computer to hang. If you are outside of warranty, you could open the cover of the computer and disconnect the hard drive from the mainboard. (thats 2 cables that are easy to connect and disconnect) if the machine works faster with the drive removed it confirms that its faulty.

Try connecting it again and see if its stuck again, you could also try connecting the hard drive to another connector on the mainboard and see if it helps.

If this has no effect let me know.

I am not been able to play themovie on window

Most movies saved on the servers online are not compatible with windows media player since they are uploaded in different formats to decrease size and decrease uploading time. Common files like Mp4, .avi, rmvb, .mkv, etc....

If you want them to play using the windows media player, you'll need codecs like Klitemega codec packs, acemegacodec packs. You can download Klite Mega codec Packs here. Download and install it, then restart your system and try playing the download movies.

If this doesn't help, you better use a player like Vlc Media player, (click here to download), Install and run, you will be able to play any type of media using this player.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

The following error opens when attempting to start the PC:

??¢ If you recently installed an additional hard drive, turn off the computer and remove the drive before using the following steps:

??¢ Open HP System Recovery:

??¢ CAUTION: Do not perform a system recovery! Stop at the first recovery screen.

- Press the F11 key repeatedly while the computer is starting.

- If you have a recovery disc, turn on the PC and insert the first recovery disc into the drive. Use the disc to enter the system recovery.

??¢ If you removed a hard drive before using these steps, replace the drive. If the error occurs again, make sure the additional hard drive is not set as an active drive. Only the main bootable drive should be set as active.

DVD's wont play - says wrong region but they are compatible

To change the Region code on your player, open Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device manager, and click on DVD/CD ROM drives, then right click on the DVD drive and click Properties then click on DVD Region.
You can enter a new region and it also shows you how many changes have been made.
NOTE you can make only 4 changes and the player will lock permanently on the 4th change.
If you want to play DVD from any region you maybe able to upgrade the firmware to make it region free BUT if you make a mistake or installed the wrong firmware the player will be a piece of junk.
The best solution to make the player region free is to install a piece of software that allows you to play DVDs from any region. There are several available on the Internet but my favourite is DVD-Region Free
