The T42 has a bulit-in wireless network adapter and a LAN network card. T42s most likely have an Intel wireless card or less likely a Cisco wireless card.
Your wireless network adapter may have been disabled in the BIOS
and/or
The drivers for the wireless network controller has not been installed.

To check the network adapter go to the Control Panel, Click on System, click on Hardware Tab then Device Manager. Then scroll down and click on Network adapters. If you don't see your network controller or you see a yellow ? against Other devices for the Network controller. Then either it has been disabled and/or the driver was not installed.

To get the driver for the network controller you need to dowload it from the IBM/Lenovo WEB site their support/download page from a computer that has Internet access. Make sure you select your laptop model and the driver for your Windows version.
Install the driver and you then need to configure the wireless adapter to suit your wireless router settings before you can access the Internet.

Sounds like you need a DVD decoding software, ie... winvid, interdvd, and powerdvd. Windows media player will play some DVD's, but many DVD's, especially newer ones, need an additional decoder in order to work. You will be able to find the software at filehippo.com, download.com, or IBM's support site. Keep in mind that burning software, ie... nero, roxio, and dvd shrink, have decoders in order to burn the DVD, so they will work as a decoder in conjunction with your media player.

please chck if there is any other bootable device connected with the computer ie the printer,camera,usb pen drive , a cd/dvd or a floppy disc etc...
if they are connected then please try disconnecting them from the computer & then try turning it on....

You can upgrade you DVD burner firmware for a try, this way can fix many general problem. Or You may take a look at this step by step guide, it's regarding how to convert and burn movie to DVD. IBM Netvista 6648 this PC, hyjacker, is very old. and not supported by IBM now. built by IBM in year 2000, 2 full decades ago why even try to use this,? it will never run windows 10. NO PCI express slots. no SATA ports. new BIOS would be hopeless, and not stated why. quote your manual: check out step 2:?

When I installed the Websphere Studio in the past on my system I installed DB2 first; the Websphere Studio was suppliment to the Universal Database. Remember this software was originally compiled for a IBM Unix System (AIX), the Websphere Studio has an integraded Apache Webserver with IBM and Sun Microsystems libraries; it just has been ported to run on a NT Kernel so that developers have access to the libraries. Make sure you have all the install files and the disc is not corrupted; use windows file and folder search targeting the CD drive to see if that binary file is on the disc. If it is on the disc try copying the files and folders to the hard drive; if the disc is corrupted the operation will fail.

Check CMOS and Memory Modules:::If the error message is "UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP," then it indicates you have problem with the memory of your computer. You need to check whether the SIMMs (Single Inline Memory Modules) are compatible and have the same speed. Secondly, also check whether you have set the CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) to the right amount of RAM. If these solutions do not work, you might have to replace memory in your computer....try to use system utility tool like Reginout.. Hope the problem is resolved.
