Replacement controller board required
unlikely to get a board
dead is dead for most hard drives
however there are people who collect dead hard drives and can interchange boards as the failure can be the reader arm or laser and the board is in good condition
ask around the computer repair shops for anybody that they know off

My iomega ez media drive cloud doesnt work
Can you ping the drive using it's IP address from a command prompt? You should be able to pull a browser type the IP address and see the drive You do realize that you should be able to see the drive and access it by clicking on file explorer then network via Windows. Sometimes the third party software makes things harder then they have to be. Consider Flashing your router with DD-WRT Kong mod the router control features are 1000 times better than Netgear, Asus, etc not to mention ehanced security like VPN at the router level so the PC's attached to the router are visible to nosey ISP's.
I have a 1 tb desktop type network storage drive
Since your using NAS storage I assume the 1 TB drive is connected via your router? Is it powered by the USB port or plugged in via AC Adapter? If your powering the drive via USB go to the router setup page-NAS setup and make sure the router is not telling the USB port to save energy by powering down. Make sure the port is always on. The Router setup is proprietary to the Brand of router my Netgear R7000 with Kong DD-WRT Mod has a setting that controls power to the USB Ports. Make sure the drive enclosure isn't hot they have a tendancy to power down if they get to hot. Clean the vents if it has any so the drive stays at a normal operating temp
I loaded a number of files awhile ago on my ex
Try going to contol panel then administrative tools. In the window that opens look at the left window pane for disk management click on it. You should see the disk that says you need to format it, Compare file systems your c drive and the disk you can't read. (Fat32, NTFS, Fat) Right click on the disk that's giving you problems and see if Vista will let you mount the drive. If it won't you should put the drive in a portable enclosure and use a Windows 7 PC to Burn your files to disc. Vista is extremely unstable If you can load Windows 7 your problem will go away and you'll have a way better OS!
The drive wont let me save any data
If the USB Port is 2.0, it might not work if the drive is 2.0. Also, some USB Ports don't carry enough power to handle a drive that does not have it's own power source.
Clicking sound
NO, you can send it to a data recovery service, but it is expensive,
I have an 2005 iomega

What is the power adapter voltage of iomega super slim dvd
likely DC 5 to 9 volts but perhaps as high as 12 for most devices. 9 is a good middle ground to start. You can get adapters with a switch for 3.5 to 12 volts, just be certain of the polarity and always start at lower volts like 5 or 6.
How to use?
You will still need the computer to digitalize the data.
My HD was having problems
Hello,
I am assuming a few things here, so keep that in mind.
:)
I suggest that you go purchase a hard drive external enclosure for your drive type. They are relatively inexpensive, say, 20 to 60 dollars. You can get them from Amazon, NewEgg, and many other online retailers. Go with a site that you trust and has a good return policy. You could also just drive down to your local Walmart or BestBuy and pick one up too (you will pay a little more).
Most external USB drives are simply an enclosure with a "normal" SATA hard drive inside, some hard drives are 2.5", some are 3.5" in size. You should also consider the speed of your computer's USB ports (2.0 or 3.0) when purchasing your new external enclosure.
Once you purchase that, you will need to remove your hard drive from the broken enclosure. Usually, there are just a few screws holding it together. Be aware that sometimes they cover the screw holes with stickers. Remove the hard drive and install that into your new enclosure. Your data should all be intact. Try this using the same computer or the same operating system to verify your data.
I hope this helps. :)

Hi, guys. Just received
Yes all external drives can be formatted but formatting will always wipe off everything on it. If you want to format it you can right click on it when it appears in Windows Explorer. You are usually offered the choice of file system FAT or NTFS. FAT is limited to a file size of about 4 GB, so usually choose NTFS, I am presuming you are talking Windows system. Then you would have to copy your files to it once again.
