Power Button Came Off
Hopefully this is not a duplicate post as I lost the previose post I spent so long writing when I hit Post Solution.
I had the same issue with mine and finally lost the button. I could not find a way to get it to stay in (and I'm very good a figuring things out like that). I'm pretty sure something broke and left no sign.
I called JVC when it happened back in 2007 but there was no recall on this. The tech I talked to could not find the part and told me it was not available. Two years later I decided to try again and this time talked to a tech lady that was very open about how and what she was looking at to find the part. When she could not find it, she emailed me a parts diagram (exploded view) of every component set that makes up the camera. Turns out that the switch is not mentioned anywhere in the parts list that correlates with the diagrams because it;s part of an assembly that has do be replaced as a whole. This is more info to back up my thinking that the switch can not be put back in place once it pops out.
After we both looked at it for a while I found it as the exploded view is not showing that portion of the handle in full view. I forget the name of the assembly but I think it said something like Power(rec?) board IDK. Either way it sounded more of an internal thing but that was it. I will be ordering this part this year so I will have to dig up all that info again.
The process to replace this switch assembly is very complex and requires that the handle/tape housing be removed from the camera. Then it all has to be taken apart with tons of micro screws and small parts. No unsoldering that I could see (most every mini board disconnects with mini plugs. Let me know if you want more info once I order this part. I think it was around $150 but I hope it is still available.
I HAVE JVC GR-DX307 AS - how to save the video on
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
To save the video on a computer, a firewire connections must first be established from the JVC GR-DX307 AS to the appropriate firewire port of the laptop (assuming it has one or through a PCMCIA firewire adapter card if required). In the camera, the FireWire/DV port is located beneath the mode dial on the left side of the JVC GR-DX307’s body. To access the FireWire/DV port, the LCD monitor must be first opened.
Soon as that connection is established, you can use Windows Import Video (Vista) to capture / download the videos.
Alternately, the A / V port of the camera maybe used to connect to a DVD Recorder for direct, realtime copying & burning. For the disc to be playable in another machine, it must be finalized.
Good luck and thank yu for using FixYa.
Camera skips in playback
I have The JVC GR- D270 its about 10yrs old and it skips every second while playing an the Safe guard at times will interfere the playing . Now what?
Record button not workig
hi,
there is several reasons for not work the record function, first of all make sure that the cassette is good and the safety tab is in record position, then check the playback of the cam with a recorded cassette, if this tests passed, check the rec button for loose or it is sticky, if so please use contact cleaner in the switch.
still the problem persists there should be problem in the circuit board. open total camera put it in record mode then test the wave shapes in the record paths up to the video head
