The serial number is just a numerical reference of when it was made. The Model number is the import part. Kenmore dryer will run for approximately five minutes. It then stops and throws a CLL SRU error code. I have researched this to mean "Call for Service". I have seen others potential causes that range from shorted heating element, to dirty lint screen/venting.

Hope this helps By Manage My LifeDecember 30th, 2011 Kenmore Elite Dryer HE4 Quietpak 9 Model 110.85091400 has 4 dim lights showing on the console display but won't start or respond Our dryer just quit working yesterday and I am puzzled. There are four lights very dimly lit on the display. They are the Casual button, the Timed Dry button and two of the segments in the oval time window. I have found the information online about how to test with a multimeter to try and figure out which board is bad. Unfortunately all these instructions require you to have the dryer in the diagnostic mode by pressing the More Time/Less Time/More Time/Less Time in less than 5 seconds. When we do this it does nothing and will not enter the diagnostic mode. When I am testing with the multimeter on the P3/P4 connections I am not getting any readings of voltage at all. Is this because of not being able to get into the diagnostic mode? Should I still be getting readings? I know we have power to the dryer because the light still turns on when you open the door. The cost of buying both the main control board and the front console are prohibitive for us and I would like to only buy the one that is bad. I have also tried the testing with the multimeter on the front console buttons and also get no readings of ohms at all. We have a very busy household with lots of kids and this dryer is very essential to us so the quicker we can get this fixed the better. Thank you in advance for your help.

Question edited for clarity 'Jen More elite'. For that strange behavior you need a service call for correct diagnosis. My guess is either the control board or the motor? Both are expensive so they are not items to swap out on a guess. I found this F:50 - Water Valve Failure F:50 flashes if no voltage is detected at the water valve relay. ? Check that the wires are plugged in on the valve and at the relay on the electronic control. The start capacitor on the motor needs replacing. It gives the motor a jolt to start and then keeps it running.

If you have an older Kenmore dryer, the drum bearing and/or rollers may be failing. This would cause the drum to rotate unevenly (wobble) and possibly contact the heating elements on the rear panel. This would account for the banging noise and burning smell. Your dryer has to be serviced.

A number of issues could cause that. Door switch contaminated. Turntable motor contaminated. Magnetron failed. Capacitor failed. Diode pack failed. Pick one and investigate bearing in mind there are LETHAL voltages inside the case!!!

In my view unrelated items (check lint and thermal fuse). The Check Lint warning is based on reduced airflow. Check the pipe at the back and the operation of the flaps on the outside wall. This is the times when you may find birds nests in the vent work. Also of note is that the thermal fuse will operate when the airflow is obstructed and the heat inside exceeds the set limits.
