The one pipe was covered in ice
That was avery vague description but you have to let it thaw out to turn it back on again and there's probably a coolant leak and you need a new compressor. Bada boom bada bing bada bang ??????????????
AC changes temperature by itself!
If it's not some sort of built in economizing feature, someone else isn't getting up and changing the temperature while you are asleep and the air conditioner fairy is playing tricks, then the control PCB is in need of repair and will have to be repaired through a sears authorized repair center.
I am a bit surprised that it will allow you to set the temperature to a low 70 degrees as this is pushing the limits of an air conditioner. They tend to freeze the coils at around that temperature.
The AC unit turns on
You say the unit produces cold air ??? where are you getting the cold air from???
If your fan does not run in any speed F1, F2 F3. and a funny smell sounds like the motor is bad
Mine works in F2, F3 but not in F1
My air conditioner will not turn on.
AC has a relay, it sounds like it failed on ya. If the unit was on all the time, was it that hot where you were or do you mean switched from AC to fan on all day? From what you said, it sounds like the unit burned its relay out for overheating, meaning thermostat may have originally failed keeping unit on until relay popped. Careful of fire hazard.

Without a serial number you cannot look up on line what the unit age is. Have you cleaned the condenser coils on the bottom and back of unit?
