Clean the battery contacts. All batteries give out fumes and coat the contacts. Never leave batteries in the camera when you stop using it.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

if using windows 7 or 8 usuallt connecting camera then turning on will start a automatic software install. If not with camera connected an on. locate my pc or my computer and find camera... open and files should be visable

Your camera should make great pictures. I don't know if you changed some settings, but to make sure you are not in night mode or something like that, press the mode button and use the arrow keys to go to the smart capture mode. Then try again. Only chose another mode, if you know for sure that mode will give a better result then the smart capture mode. I hope this will help.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files.
