There is a way to reset it when this happens. Do a Duck Duck Go web search and you can get the sequence for your particular model/Maytag. There is a sequence of keys to reset. Do the lights blink when you try to press start?
Let us know if this helps.
Soap still in dispenser even though the dispenser door had opened
Be sure that nothing on the top rack is interesting with the door opening. Next place in unit in the wash mode. Let it fill and start washing. Open door and you should have water standing just below the lip on the wall of the unit below the lower rack. If so you are full of water.
Next is to ensure your washer rotating arms are not plugged. The very end of the upper and lower arms spray on the door to wash the soap out. If the are contaminated you will have to remove them and clean the out.
Lastly, the dispenser is operated by what is called a WaxMotor. Simply put it is a small amount of wax contained in a tube with a piston inserted. There is then a heating element around the tube. When it appmys heat the wax expands and pushes on the piston which I turn releases the door to be opened by its spring.
These can go bad and open too late in the machines cycles. It is located in the door and unless you are quite handy I would recommend a qualified technician.

You seem to know at least something about washers and that is a PLUS. Yes, you can replace these components. If your washer runs through the cycle WITHOUT any water in it...more than likely it is the water level switch. If it was the water supply valve it would stop the machine after a short time.
When we turn on the dishwasher there is no water
hi Mapletonmob.
this is all i could find out.
A dishwasher that will not fill with water can be frustrating and repairing it through a serviceman can be expensive. Even for someone who may not consider themselves handy, repairing a dishwasher is not a difficult process. Below we've provided you with a list of the most common parts that fix a dishwasher will not fill with water. Use this information to help troubleshoot which part is broken
The water inlet valve is used to fill the dishwasher with the proper amount of hot water and is controlled by the timer or electronic control. The valve will be located behind the lower access panel and will have two wires attached to it, an outlet hose to the tub and a hot water inlet from the household supply. If your dishwasher does not fill then you should first check the inlet supply to verify that you have enough water pressure and that you have power going to the valve during the fill portion of the cycle. If these conditions are met then the valve is defective and should be replaced. If you do not have power to the valve then you should look at the float switch, the timer or electronic control or the door switches as a possible problem. All of the electrical checks can be made with a multi-meter.
A malfunctioning float could cause the dishwasher to not fill with water. The float is located at the bottom of the dishwasher tub and acts as a safety device that prevents the dishwasher from over filling with water. The float rises with the water level in the dishwasher and when the proper level is reached, the float will trigger the float switch to turn off the water inlet valve. Check that there is no debris or foreign objects that might restrict the vertical movement of the float and that it engages the float switch located beneath the tub.
The float switch sits below the float, beneath the dishwasher tub. When the float switch is triggered by the float, power to the water inlet valve is interrupted and it stops the flow of water into the dishwasher. Verify that the mechanical action of the float to the switch is operating properly and that the wire connections are secure. To check that the float switch is working properly, remove the wires and test for continuity with a multi-meter.
The door switch is a simple on/off mechanism that prohibits the dishwasher from operating when the door is open. If the door switch or switches are malfunctioning the dishwasher will not fill with water. This door switch mechanism is typically located behind the door panel at the top of the door. To verify the operation of the switches you will need to separate the inner door from the outer door and then remove the wires from the switches and check for continuity with a multi-meter.
We've identified the most common parts that can cause the dishwasher to not fill with water, but there are other parts that could be at fault. If you are unable to fix your dishwasher with the information above,
if none of the above work you might have to call someone out to have a look at it.

Keeps Blinking '9'
Hi maybe the machine did not properly empty out all the water there could be a blockage in the waste outlet pipe to check this blow down the pipe to see if its clear you'll need a little puff to do this if you cant get air through the pipe then there is a possibility that there is, or the waste water pump itself is not working clearing the water fully this will cause the machine to strike, if there is nothing stopping the water to expel, then the pump has either died or is blocked replace if necessary hope that helps a little eric

I have a Maytag Quiet

Dishwasher whrillpool gold burning smell
there is one or more wire shorting out [frying]. If you can access the wiring system you will see the wire[s] that have been burnt through the plastic covering. You really shouldnt use it until you get it fixed as it could catch fire. You now have one or more exposed, "hot" wire being exposed to other wires when the machine is on. Plastic burns quite easily. Its not the element. Thats just an accumulation of "salts" from the dishwashing detergent. If you want you can gently wipe an element with a damp cloth. [do the same with your stove and oven elements too]

I have a maytag dishwasher modelmdb7749sbw2. You can set the type of wash but will not start the wash cycle. Any ideas how to fix
There are several possible problems that could cause this. The first step to diagnose the problem is to disconnect the washer from power. You will probably need to shut power off at the circuit breaker panel and leave it shut off for at least three minutes. This ought to clear the memory of the logic board (computer) in the machine. When you reset the breaker, the machine could work.
The problem could also be in the panel controls themselves and Maytag has replaced some of these panels. Your washer might be one that should have a new panel from Maytag and you can find this out by contacting Maytag through their website.

Model MDB5601AWW leaking around the side plastic box on left wall inlet that has water hose. What needs done?
-Here sample solution.
-The plastic box or cap you're talking about is the " Breather Cap"
-Check the drain tube from the breather cap to the sink. It must be clean and no block.
-Make sure the breather cap stays in up right. (Straight Up)
-Check the breather cap's Cap . Any big chuck of food waste stuck inside or not. If so the clean it.
-Check the whole breather cap. Any crack...? If so the replace new one.
Good luck ,enjoy and wash every day
