You are testing for continuity with door open and no continuity with door closed or vice versa depending on how they wired it. Or you have a failed control board or a bad capacitor on it. The dim lights are the clue on that one.

Test the thermal fuse on the side of the heater housing. It should read closed for continuity. If open, you will need to replace the kit. Here is a link to the kit you need.

May need to adjust the lock. Sounds like when you push down to close it and let go, its putting pressure on the lock that doesnt let it unlock.

One or more of the tub suspension rods or dampening straps could be damaged. Does the tub bounce smoothly, if you push it down and then release it? This checks the suspension rods. Other parts related to balancing the tub include the suspension pads, springs or balance rings. (The washer will usually squeal and shake badly, if the tub bearing is failing.) The washer shuts off to avoid damage additional damage to the washer. I hope this helps. If your getting hot water on cold rinse like you said, switch the hoses.

No, drain it. Just remove the drain hose from the clip at the rear and low the hose into a pail or cooking tray. Gravity will do the rest. Make sure it is always kept upright unless you have the transport brackets.

Probably the motor control board or the start capacitor. Bad bearings would not cause that. Bad bearings cause a jet engine noise in spin, plus you get movement in the drum or a grating sound when you turn the drum. You can 'feel' bad bearings just like you can on a car.

Question edited for clarity. When the power came back on, or when it went out, there was probably a brown out or voltage surge. You need a service visit. You can try and claim against the utility company for not regulating their power supply to you. Are you certain you have power at the outlets? It is odd that both would succumb to it, unless you were hit by lightning?
