Windows Vista upgrade software is available for purchase & immediate download at the microsoft website. It is also available at Wal-mart and other retailers. There is no free upgrade available. Hope this helps.

I would also recommend doing a scan using free software like superantispyware as slow pc can also mean infection of various kinds.

It's easy! For one thing DON'T renew Norton. It sucks. Two great anti virus programs that I have used recently are FREE ! !! One is AVG Anti-Virus and I would also recommend CCLEANER (**** Cleaner). AdWare is another good one. In fact, I have all THREE on my computer and use them on a regular basis. Just GOOGLE the names I gave you and forget about Norton...... Did I mention they are FREE ?????????????? :)

You can try changing your Windows Theme to a more plain less animations ect..

To do this click on the desktop right-click now click on Personalise and now there are many things you can adjust to improve your computers performance like screen saver settings, wallpaper settings, theme settings and many more.

If your using the theme Vista Aero (with glass effect) then i would recommend you to change the theme to the Vista Basic theme.

The glass effect uses lots of your computers RAM and will slow it down dramatically.

There is probably a compatibility problem with mail and outlook.

What about installing Outlook onto your Vista computer?

You will need the windows version of iTunes available at the apple site.

You will also need an iTunes store account but the software walks you through setting it up.

The iTunes music comes in as I think an mp4 which doesn't play in Windows Media player. But you can click on the music and export as it an MP3 and that will play in the Windows Media Player.

No 500mb of songs is not a problem for Windows Media player. I have in excess of 400GB of music on a network hard drive and it copes without difficulty. If you look at the bottom of Media player you will see a pair of icons to the left of the play button. The one furthest left is the "Shuffle" button.

I can play .vob files with a cool media player called VLC player, which plays everything I throw at it. I recommend you download it from here:

and when you install it, set the File Associations to play everything with VLC, that'll let you double click on a .vob file and play it automatically.
VLC has a much lighter 'footprint' than Windows Media Player, or Nero or many DVD players,and has amazing codec-support already included.
If the .vob files are encrypted, then maybe that is slowing down your laptop, but that is not the only reason for this to happen.
If it still restarts automatically, you may have picked up malware from downloaded movies, and need to download Spybot and scan and immunize your hard drive. Spybot is completely free. Trust me, i don't like paying for things :)
It's also possible that you need to clean up your registry and your drive with a free program called ncleaner. you can find that here:
