On the left side of the camera where the little screen is, there is a switch that says tape/card. Put it to tape and then you could record

you definetly have a tape mech fault and this is going to have to go for repairs to panasonic.

Did you ever figure out how to do this? I have misplaced the cord to transfer files from the HD to the computer, and I would like to not have to purchase one through Panasonic (Best Buy didn't have one). I just want to transfer the files from the HD to the SD card while in the camera, and then take the card out and put it in the Mac. Any luck?

call panasonic if there are that many posts maybe it is a recall issue and they should know about it.

I think the technical term is 'broken'. Take it to a service centre.

you cannot move the spindles/cogs in a mini dv tape without pressing down a small lever on the rear of the cassette. the lever is in the lower right, move the lever, then move the ribbon protector to the open position, then spin the cogs, the tape should be free. if not, then you have a jamm inside the cassette, you can open these casettes by removing 4 small screws. ( this is a very fiddly job & you may ruin the casette, if you dont know how )

that error is to do with the lazer lens that reads the disc, you can try a cleaning disc or using a can of comressed air. it could also be a worn spindle, but that normally makes the mechanism noisy.

The answer to this is probably in the manual - have you looked there ? If not, careful perusal of all the options in the menu system should point you in the right direction.

Take the tape out to keep it safe, then remove the battery for 24 hours.

On this kind of cameras its impossible. U need a tracking adjusting button which is only on pro cameras. I doubt if its worth to give it in for repairs

I dont think u can do that on playback only on recording, it works auto.

Take the a/v out of the VHS to the in of the mini dv, play and record.If both units work thats all u have to do.
