Pull out your manual and make sure that it can play all types of movies. I am guessing that you are putting in BluRay movies and it only accepts regular DVDs

Most Combo Recorders (VHS and DVD) will prevent you from
recording a Copyrighted VHS tape program onto DVD.
Try recording a TV program onto your VHS tape, then
transfer it to your DVD and see if your new DVD recording
will work or not.

Unplug the unit then check to see if there is a small hole (1/16") on the front panel of the player near the open/close button. If so straighten a paper clip and press into the hole to open the drawer manually.

you need to check that it supports pal output, if its a european unit (check the manual and player bottom for the ce mark) then it will play pal discs and will need reverting to the multiregion upgrade ( a disc and a few button presses about £20 online)) if its an american unit then it wont play pal discs even if you do manage to multiregion it.

You need to convert the .avi files to the MPEG format with software. Just renaming the file will not work.

Sorry it's not that simple, both Astralian and North American TV's run on the same voltage 120v, but the digital tuners are completly different. Australian uses DVB-T, and North America uses ATSC. That means they are complete incompatible with each others broadcast signals. You could use your Australian PS4, and other Australian digital video devices, but to be honest, you should look at buying a North American TV if you plan on staying for a while.

That is not a question, try to mention the model of your TV, the model name and number of the remote, then follow that with your question.
