ES65 restore firmware

Perhaps you still remember the add from IBM. Where the son says, or we put in the power plug!!! There are more errors with portable equipment caused by empty batteries than all other causes together. Please remove the battery and charge the battery, before placing it back. And even when the charger indicates the battery is full, it is no 100 % guaranty it is. Even almost new batteries, can lose capacity within minutes. Those are defect and most of the time not to recover. Be aware, to change firmware, if it should be available, you need a working camera. And a fully charged battery, because if during the update the battery runs out of power, your camera won't work again, without an intervention of the repair shop. Make it a habit to charge the batterie at least every 3 months, even if you don't use the camera for a longer period.

Factory reset

In camera settings menu, on the bottom of the screen you find Settings. In Settings is the only reset the camera knows. You only will reset the menus and shooting options. Date, time, language and video output settings are not reset. If your camera has serious trouble, accessing menus or something like that, there is nothing like pressing a button for several seconds and everything will be ok. (not in the manual)

Batteries dead after very few shots

It has nothing to do with your camera. At least not when your camera is not becoming hot. Some batteries can work for thousands of hours, and exceed the 1000 recharge cycles most battery firms are talking of. But the don't give any guaranty a battery will last that long. Some camera manufactures give one year of warranty on the camera but only 90 days for the battery. So it could be your batteries are old and worn out already. You can use 2 AA size NiMH rechargeable batteries, to check if the do a better job. They are relative cheap, and should last as long as the original battery pack that came with the camera. Please, even when you are not using the camera, you should charge the batteries at least every 2 or 3 months. Then they stay in a better shape. Never use NiCD rechargeable or manganese (Zinc-Carbon) batteries. Even the very expensive alkaline batteries won't last half the time a NiMH could work. GP batteries, makes ReCyko+ rechargeable batteries, that not exact do have the capacity of the NiMH batteries, but they can hold the charge much longer. You only have to charge them once a year, when you did not use them. and still after a year they should have enough power to make a bunch of pictures.

Software es28

If you don't have the CD with intelli-studio, you could try some free software like Photoshop Express, Ulead, Gimp, BeFunkey, Perhaps these packages also can download pictures from your camera. Most drivers your computer needs, are in the modern operating systems. Only when you have Win 2000 or elder, you need drivers from the CD. Perhaps some elder MACs need drivers too from the CD that came with the camera.
