Free software download
You don't need any special software.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo management program such as Picasa (
http://picasa.google.com ).
Wont turn off
Getting out your battery is ok. Don't expect the lens to retract, because the camera has no power. But after you reinsert the battery, the lens should retract, because the camera knows in what position the lens is.Be sure the battery is in good shape. If the battery is not fully charged or even worse, when it is defective, noting will happen. When you have a multi meter, you could check the voltage of the battery. It should read a little more (few tenths of a volt) when measured with a multi meter. if it is only slightly less then what is printed on the battery, you can assume the battery is defect. The camera will not work with a defective battery, so in that case you should replace the battery.
Lens problem
sounds like a low battery problem. replace the battery
How to clear the memory?
After transferring any photos you want to keep, delete the photos from your memory card. Alternatively, you can format the card to clear the card completely.
Samsung ST70 Screen won't work
Dear Gaith,I recommend you take out your battery/ies, and re-install them into your camera. Without switching the camera on, leave it to charge for a couple of hours. Once you restart the camera, I'm certain it will work. If not, you have a dead LCD panel in your camera, which you must have to get repaired/replaced. Regards,Rebel K
