screen ribbon needs resetting not an easy job to do if you not done them before as you need to take the screen out and remove the screen shield off to get to the ribbon, then put a foam or rubber spacer over the ribbon so that when you fit the shield case back on it just pushes on it slightly so it has good contact. and its best to do all the ribbons as this will help it not do the same to the reset.

I'd start by checking the cables going into and out of the tcon board, if that doesn't fix it chances are its a bad board, since it would take a few mins to basically warm up to work before it started doing this all the time one other thing you can try if its not cables is to bake the board..Chances of that fixing it are kind of slim but I have had it work a few times with timing boards I couldn't find. You can youtube this and find some vids on how to do it.

Take out the back panel and smell to trace what part is burned. Then check the high voltage circuit near the 120 volts. After the transformer, should be 380 volts AC. After the ratifiers, should be 390 volts DC - by checking at the capacitor as Samsung uses 100 uf at 450 volts. If not, change the capacitor to a higher rating like 350 uf at 400 to 450 volts.

2008 until 2017 is way more than 4 years old . take it to a repair shop and get an estimate of repair costs

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.
If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

Unfortunately capacitors have been projected as a cure to all possible problems in an LCD tv by some you tube experts. The actual problem may lie in the power board or the main board. An expert is needed to check and find the actual culprit.

sounds like you have it set you have any other sources than external,(such as audio out) ?If so that should solve your problem...does the system have any other connection outs, such as red white audio cables (LR audio )? You can use them as external when the optical is unplugged...if you get sound you either have a bad optical cord or the output for it is defective..good luck GOD BLESS

That TV should still be under warranty, contact Samsung.

Samsung LN40B630... | Answered on Oct 05, 2017 | 494 views

It's the power board. eBay has them.

Samsung... | Answered on Sep 23, 2017 | 164 views

The issue is with the main board circuits on your set not detecting signal on HDMI ports or selecting those ports.
How about your other inputs - do they work? Have a feeling they also will be dead. If course you can always feed the dvd rf signal to your set but the audio and video will not be up to current standards but it will work like that.
