Why does my Simplicity American Quilter SA2400LX only stitch straight now? The stitch selector works correctly, but only stitches straight.
There are a few possible reasons why your Simplicity American Quilter SA2400LX is only stitching straight:
- Stitch length setting: Check that the stitch length setting is not set to zero or a very small number. If it is, the machine will only sew straight stitches.
- Stitch selector mechanism: It's possible that there is a problem with the stitch selector mechanism that is preventing it from engaging properly. You may need to take it to a repair technician to have this checked and fixed.
- Tension setting: Make sure that the tension setting is correct for the type of stitch you are trying to sew. If the tension is too high, it can cause the machine to only sew straight stitches.
- Timing: The timing of the machine may be off, which can cause the machine to not properly engage the stitch selector mechanism. This is a more complicated issue and may require professional repair.
If you are comfortable with sewing machine repairs and want to try to fix it yourself, start with checking the stitch length and tension settings. If those are not the issue, it may be best to take it to a repair technician for further diagnosis and repair.
I need help assembling the bodice for simplicity pattern 1028. Help I promised my little girl I would make a cinderella dress before we go to disney!
Quite an undertaking if not very experienced with sewing...The pattern instructions should step you through the process--just follow it chronologically. There are multiple web sites that will help with the process as well. Generally, match & pin together the bodice front and bodice side for both right & left side. Then match & pin together bodice back and bodice side for both right & left side. Then match & pin front to back shoulder (both right & left side) and stitch. Match the bodice backs & bodice fronts, and stitch (both sides). (Since it is a girl's pattern, there are probably no bust darts to deal with.) Sew the skirt pieces together (front to back), then gather the skirt waist. Match pattern marks of skirt waist to bodice waist and stitch. Add zipper. Then finish neckline and armholes and then hem skirt.
