Skil Saws - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
Is a longer output shaft (arbor) available for Skil Model 3410 10" table saw? I have a need for 3/4" dado stack blade use, but the arbor is out of threads above 5/8" dado width.
Looking at the picture of the saw it appears virtually identical to many others meaning it is likely a label-engineered generic model possibly sourced from the Far East.
If this is correct it is very unlikely to employ an arbor in the conventional sense and is most likely mechanically like a portable saw or uses a low profile induction motor, as my table saw does.
While the very useful dado stack is popular in America, its use is frowned upon in many places around the world as they are considered dangerous and they are banned outright in Europe, in fact in Europe we aren't even supposed to operate a saw without the riving knife, which means in theory at least, we aren't supposed to saw out rebates.

Skill Wormdrive HD77 saw sparks
you have a problem with worn brushes or the armature might be failing. UNPLUG the tool and remove the brushes to check their condition length and look at the face of the brush for any unusual wear. Then look into the brush tubes themselves and slowly rotate the armature for discoloration/raised commutator bars.
Where is the blade lock button on a skilsaw 5150 2
First, there is no blade lock button on the Skil model 5150. I called the Skil customer service and they emailed me the exact manual for this circular saw. The method I used to loosen a VERY TIGHT blade stud was: spray with WD-40, imbed the blade in scrap wood, set Skil wrench (usually found in back of foot under handle) on so it could be struck going in counter-clockwise direction. Use hammer to strike handle of wrench a couple of times. To replace blade, finger-tighten blade stud, then use wrench to tighten 1/8 turn or (45°).
What size blade fits a Skil model 67? (older worm drive saw)
Vintage Skilsaw model 67 worm drives, were made from 1947 to 1956. They used a 5 1/2 inch blade. The problem is with the arbor. It is a diamond shape. One can fine larger blades with the diamond arbor but I don't think anyone make an exact one for your model any longer. Two possible solutions. Buy a 5 1/2 blade with a round arbor and file out the center hole to the diamond shape. Or see if the diamond shaped saw arbor could be removed and a later model round collar be used instead. But my best advise is to get a new saw. Your old worm-drive saw is potential very dangerous. Mainly because of the old style safety guard. It is not worth losing a finger or hand. Maybe someone else know of a blade source. Good Luck. J

I have a skill table saw model 3400 type 2. The
I would check to see that ID of the blade arbor matches the OD of the motor arbor, and you are not missing an adapter ring. Then I would get some acetone and a wire brush clean all surfaces where the blade seats. This is also good practice for Jacobs chucks on drills, that allow the drill bits to spin.

The blade on my new skil 3310 won't raise. It came preassembled & has never been used, but the elevation wheel feels locked. I can adjust the angle, but turning the knob doesn't raise/lower blade.
Just as a question and I am not being smart you know that the wheel to raise the blade work counter clockwise.
The other thing you need to check is in your manual here is the part how to adjust the blade for raisin/lowering.
After five hours of operation, the blade elevation/tilting mechanism should be checked for looseness, binding, or other abnormalities. Disconnect the saw from the power source, turn the saw upside down and pull up and down on the motor unit. Observe any movement in the motor mounting mechanism. Looseness or play in the blade raising screw 1 should be adjusted as follows (Fig. 55): 1. Loosen nut 2. 2. Adjust the nut 3 until it is finger-tight against the bracket 4, then back off the nut 3 1/6 turn. 3. Tighten nut 2. The maximum allowable play of the screw rod 1 is 5/32" (4 m). Place a small amount of dry lubricant (such as graphite or silicon) on the screw rod 1 at the thrust washer 5. Do not oil the threads of screw rod 1. The screw rod 1 must be kept clean and free of sawdust, gum, pitch, and other contaminant's for smooth operation. NOTE: If excessive looseness is observed in any other part of the blade elevation mechanism or tilting mechanism, take the complete unit to an authorized service center.
