Hello!

When you see a green lights on arcnet pc130e it means it has communication between your pc and router (or modem). Data is being transmitted. So, it means the device is working properly.

The other arcnet without the light, perform the following:

1. Try replacing the lan cable to make sure that no open wires or no faulty connectors on both ends. You should see a green light if the lan cable is the problem.

2. Check on both ends of the lan cable. make sure it is inserted properly on the lan port. You should hear a snap sound as it locks up.

3. Make sure the lan port on the router is OK, you should try the other port and see if the green lights appears on arcnet.

4. Connect this arcnet pc130e to a PC with working arcnet. If the green lights appear, it means you only need to reinstall the driver. If no green lights, this device is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Looks to me like they never implemented the serial port. The used unit I just obtained has no signal on the serial console pins and no SMC documentation beyond plugging it in appears to exist. Likewise with TELNET access. However you can reset the switch to factory defaults with the following procedure from a pop-up window off the login page. It worked for me. ---------- If you have forgotten the administration password you can return the Switch to its factory default state by doing the following: 1) Remove the power cord from the back of the Switch. 2) Remove all cables from the front-panel ports. 3) Connect port 1 to port 2, on the front panel, using a standard network cable. 4) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the Switch. 5) Wait at least 40 seconds before disconnecting port 1 from port 2. After completing this procedure, the password will be 'smcadmin' and the network address will be returned to the default; 192.168.2.10/24.

You realize people reading this have no idea what this mumbo-jumbo means. Brett has no idea and he is the master of all masters in lateral thinking! 'make model (what it is)', plus a detailed description of the issue!

Try this:

1) Unplug the power
2) Push and hold the reset button
3) Plug in power
4) Continue to hold the reset switch for 30 seconds

Plug your computer into one of the LAN ports, TCP/IP should be set to get it's settings from DHCP.

Open a DOS window and type IPCONFIG

Note the gateway address - open up a web browser and go to address http://GatewayAddress < Put the number there!

The default pasword for this router is smcadmin < All lower case

There suppose to be a reset button on it mainly on the back of it

Gave me the manual. The product you listed is an unmanaged switch not a router. Thus, it doesn't have an web interface. You can try unplugging the device for a while and then retrying to connect to your firewall/router/local network. Also check if your computer will connect to the network without the switch. If you can connect directly without the switch, check if your product is still under warranty.

You need to install the driver disk that came with the USB adapter. Your PC correctly pointed out that the internal WI-FI adapter is not working but the USB adapter should be showing on the taskbar of the driver is installed correctly.

look for a windows xp driver file on the included program compact disc that may need to be installed before you use the included program.

Basic question but have you tried restarting the computer? Some networking issues are resolved by a simple restart. Otherwise can you open a command prompt (click the Start button and type cmd) and run the following command: ipconfig /all You should see an IPv4 or IP address in the list. Can you confirm that it starts with 192.168.x.x? Most home IP addresses will have this format. Do not provide your full IP address as this could be a security risk.
