this may be a problem on the 5 volt line in the set, there is a constant 5 volts running through it even when it is long as its plugged in.
There may be condensors that are open on the 5 volt line.. after they warm up they start to function more proper. but being that they are leaky..they are no longer doing thier job of keeping voltage steady until they warm up.

i do not condone this but if you were to open it up , im willing to bet you have a series of swollen or blown condensors that are not doing thier job on the pwb (power supply board) if thats the case its a 30 minute fix for a technician. Id like to discuss this with you further , i do have a couple questions that may help me diagnose this.

Hi I had the same problem with one of my TV's and I know this may sound daft, but mine was literally a signal problem, got a booster, re-tuned the DVB tuner, hey presto. You might not be so lucky, and may have an aerial issue, in which case, that's a job for the aerial chap, which incidentally I also had to have sorted.

Good day sir/maam, the trouble is caused (possibly) by the failure of the IF amplifier system of your TV, it is usually sets of transistors, or an IC that controls the gain of your TV. Have your service repair man check the section fro the tuner stage to the IF stages. chances are the IC is not functioning properly. Hope this helps.

Please perform the steps provided on the page. If the issue still persists then service of the TV is required.

Do you know where your remote is?I have had it where it would do that for days and then I would find my remote was wedged into my chair somewhere and when I sat down it would press a button.Either that or check the wires in the remote and TV.For the changing channels do you look at your remote when you press buttons to switch channels? There is a common button, which, when pressed, will surf through all of your tv's channels.

How old is the TV?After a certain number of years the pixles will degrade and around key areas they will turn a rough color.Pink green orange blue, you name it.Otherwise It could be that it got damaged in a shipping process and then there wouldnt be much you could do except take it into the retailer where you purchased it and ask if the problem is fixable.
