Does anyone know how to use a chattanette coal
A true Chattanette would have been made in Bonnybridge, Scotland, but the principals would be similar. There is a lever above the fireplace that switches the 'draw' of the fire through the back rather than straight up the chimney, if the back boiler is hooked up to a tank properly, this will heat a full tank in about an hour. To the left of the fire grate, there should be a 3 position 'switch' or lever, this should regulate the heat to pass through a vent on the side of the fireplace to pull hot air under the ovens too. If the back boiler is running, the ovens won't get much heat, so if not in use, block the back vent off. Mine gets up to about 200F and the lever is broken, so if yours is ok you should get a pretty hot oven in no time?
