Outboard troubleshooting

Check the ingear protector in the control box ! its a small switch that when lever in gear it wont start ! remove and split the box or remove the flush mounted box from the side of your boat and you will see it as you move the gear lever pending what type you have ! some have a small lever on the switch and others have a button !

How to Change the impeller on Suzuki 140 outboard

Suzukis are normally a mission to work on especially if it is a two stroke,so I suggest you get a workshop manual.all gearbox bolts must be undone, the gear linkage is under the bottom carb, this is the tricky part, you have to loosen a nut at bottom of gear arm where gearcable fits, then push in with screw driver, this releases gear change shaft.the biggest problem is trying to see what you are doing.good luck

Most manufacturers demand the water pump be changed every 3 years. If your thermostat sticks, you can over heat. You would also need to ignore or have a failed temp buzzer. Also at extreme temps, your temp sensor can burn up. SO if you heard the buzzer, and then it quit- that did not mean you were out of the woods. If you could still run on your scalded pistons, I would think a light bore job with new pistons would fix it.

Hi!

The easiest visual test to see if your motor is pumping cooling water is that the water will come out the "check hole" just below the engine bonnet.
However. it's possible that the check hole has become clogged with debris. A piece of thin wire or even a toothpick should be enough to get the debris loosened so water will flow.
You can buy "ear muffs" at any chandlery to hook your motor up to a garden hose for your test.

WARNING!
If steam is coming out of the hole, SHUT THE MOTOR DOWN IMMEDIATELY! You'll overheat the motor and cause a very spendy repair job.

Good Luck

2017 Tracker 17.5 ft. boat. How can I remove batteries from it please.

Question edited for clarity. Question moved to Boating. Hello Anonymous Harriet :>D You will have two or possibly 3 batteries. Usually a large car type starting battery for starting the engine. Then two Deep Cycle Gel Batteries, one for the marine electronics, fish finder etc, and another that powers the front bow mounted Trolling motor. You will find them in the deck lockers. Open them, release any tie downs, undo the cables and lift them out for Winter storage. I keep mine in my garage and I put them on a battery minder for 24 hours once a month. I have the Battery Tender Junior, and I put them on a 6 amp car charger before the season starts. https://www.google.com/search?q=Battery+Tender https://www.google.com/search?q=2017+tracker+175+remove+battery The information you gave is is merely the year of manufacture, the maker and the length. They all have model numbers. That would be the key to searching for a manual online. https://www.jdpower.com/boats/2017/tracker-marine/pro-guide-v-175-wt__/32067137/specs and https://www.bbcboards.net/showthread.php?t=969900 ..
