"Initializing"
We had similar problem. There is a tiny little black plastic arm where the paper comes out of the top. If you're facing the screen, it will be towards the bottom left. I couldn't find it on the parts list, but it's similar to part 118-9754-00 (Multi-purpose tray paper sensor actuator) from the parts list website:http://www.office.xerox.com/userdoc/P780/partslist/index.html. . We had broken that part when we moved and thought little of it until we got the hanging initialization. Check to see that it moves freely and is not broken. It was a pricey part for what it was, so you might look at a salvaged part. Hope that's the problem as it is an easy repair! If that doesn't do it, we had a door that didn't make good contact that also caused similar problem. Good luck!
Upper Paper Tray light flashing as if not all the way when it is.
Remove the paper tray.
On the right side you will see Three (3) holes
the plastic piece you found when in the bottom hole.
Since it is broken it will no longer snap into place.
Make your self fom either plastic or cardboard, a piece that will cover the bottom hole but not so big that it will block the hole above it.
Then using a good stiff tape (eloectical or duck) paste the piece over the hole, making sure you don't block the hole above it, or any other part of the machine.
I have taken a plastic knife cut to size and superglued it in.
If all else fails you can order that plastic piece that broke from Xerox. It's called a paper size sensor. about $5.00 for the part and about $10.00 for shipping.
Good luck

hi,
the paper jamming problem is generic to most printer models of this capability. one way to circumvent this is to use a
multimedia-tray while printing.
the reason is probably the two springs that hold down a silver metal pressure
roller in the feeding unit. The tension is uneven due to old springs
and the paper pulls crooked. If you follow the paper path in the fedder
mechanism, you will see the roller I am referring to. The springs are
at either end of this bar.
If you are good mechanically, you can replace the springs yourself,
although they are a ***** to get back on (some disassembly required).
try
this for details on doing it.
cheers

Fuser change help
is it asking you to reseat the fuser or reset the fuser?
These printers do not have any kind of reset for new consumables such as the fuser. They will be automatically detected by the printer. Though sometimes it will take several hundred pages before the proper levels are detected on the new parts.
If it is asking you to reseat the fuser then you need to open the front panel and remove the fuser. Once it is out make sure that there aren't any pieces of paper or protective plastic that are covering any of the connectors.
Once that is done, simply slide the fuser back into place and re tighten the screw that holds it in. After the fuser has been reinstalled you will need to turn the big blue knob on the fuser several turns in the direction of the arrows that are printed on the knob.
You can do this procedure either with the printer turned on or off.
White stripes evident each time the printer is started up from cold
Those solid ink machines are designed to be left on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. (it uses about $20 in ink to turn on each time)
When turned off the printhead nozzles can get clogged up with dry ink, which causes white stripes. Running the eliminate light stripes routine purges the printhead (using another $10 or $12 in ink). When it becomes a continuous problem the printhead needs to be replaced....very expensive and time to get a new printer !

Fault 07,005.47 is a failure of the drum maintenance system. Having the printer repaired by a certified technician is strongly recommended because the printer's covers will have to be removed, and the printer partially disassembled.
