go to add-remove and uninstall the program make sure the directory is also deleted on your HD because if you don't the problem will more than likely reoccur then reinstall it, a lot of programs create files during install and if one gets corrupted it might not be removed at uninstall leaving the problem in place.

No it is NOT normal

Try either superantispyware or MBAM and make sure you download only from either majorgeeks or cnet to get a clean link to either product

Run those and if they lock after finding thengs then re-start let it find just a few things and do a clean up
then re-start and do another scan and quite often they will then complete

Sounds like you have a nasty on there that is stopping webroot from doing its job so time to change to another product.

try removeing the program from add or remove programs.

start -> control panel -> add or remove programs.

find the program from the list and click uninstall or change, which ever it may say.

Try THIS site...To find what version of SpySweeper you are using, open the software and click on HELP and then ABOUT. It should show you the version...

The Webroot Client Service must be running on your computer in order for Webroot software updates to function. If your updates are failing, follow the steps below to make sure the Client Service is started on your computer.
  1. Follow the instructions for your operating system.
    For Windows XP:
    1. Click the Start button, then click Run. The Run box opens.
    2. In the Run box type services.msc and press OK. The Services window opens.

  2. For Windows Vista or 7:
    1. Click windows_7_start_button.png or the Start button.
    2. Type services.msc in the Start Search box and press the enter key. The Services window opens.
  3. In the Services window, scroll down and locate Webroot Client Service.

Is it installed? The number should display on "help about" and when you connect for free updates.
Contact the company on line. You should also be receiving regular email after you have registered the software, they have a copy of your number also.

Hello,
In my experience for the past 10 years, malware,which includes all the items that harm your computer, has become the primary cause poor performance as well problems with computers.
Unfortunately, malware softwares have had to keep up by producing software that have become very bothersome as well as using up a lot of system resources to do the job.

Thus, I have been using Microsofts Security Essentials for over 2-years and have been very satisfied with the softwares performance as well as protection. There is no charge to download the program as well as no registration or service contract. I feel since they built the operating system, they would know what it takes to protect the system.
The only item you have to pay attention to is, the taskbar icon on the bottom right, if green with ckeckmark good to go, orange, then needs updates or compter scanning. Little to do for what it does for protecting your computer.
I have provivded a link to the Microsoft web site for your to copy and paste into your web browser for downloading the program.

I have the same problem: Webroot 2011 no longer detects and quarantines cookies. If you go to the Webroot Support page and type "no longer quarantine cookies", it offers the generated issue: "You want to know why Internet Explorer cookies are not detected in a scan"; to which it offers the following answer: "A recent Microsoft security update (KB 2559049) [...check your Windows updater, I got this security update on my computer on August 10th...] prevents Webroot security programs from identifying spy cookies on systems where the update is applied. Although these cookies cannot be detected, your core antivirus and anti-spyware protection is not compromised. Viruses and spyware are still blocked. Webroot engineers are actively investigating options to restore spy cookie detections and any solutions will be provided in an upcoming release." (This statement is not dated; I am looking at it now, August 28th, 2011, on their Webroot Support page.) I have Windows Vista operating system and Webroot 2011 version 7.0.11.21. My Webroot Antivirus with Spy Sweeper hasn't swept up anything in scans in the last couple of weeks, but it did block an internet site last night; so I think it's still working. Hope this helps!

- check for viruses in your computer by running malware bytes ( download it from www.filehippo.com)run it and then restart the computer.- once it is done reset the browser by going into tools-internet options-advanced-reset.- and then disable the firewalls by going into start-control pannel-windows firewall- turn off firewall.
