Most ice makers in domestic refrigerators make a noise when filling ice containers and when "dropping" ice cubes into ice container. If working OK then this is possibly the noise as described above.

The first thing to do is check that the condenser coils are free of dust. They must have a clear flow of air.

Is the fans inside running okay? They circulate the cold air.

It may be short of gas, and for that you need an engineer.

With your type of fridge freezer, the cold air for the fridge comes from a vent in the freezer compartment. I had a similar problem and the cause was a faulty defrost timer. The evaporator which is as the back of the freezer was a solid lump of ice. There was no air flow, so no cold air going to the fridge. The timer was replaced, the ice was melted with a heat gun, and the problem was fixed.

Defrost timer, defrost thermostat or most likely defrost heater is bad. Turn off refrigerator overnight to defrost this should be done immediately as your refrig. Fan is going to burn up if not already. There are many sites on Internet that tells how to find problem and repair such as repairclinic.com .

Hi Lucille,
NO This model does not have a water filter. You will need to complete disconnect the ice maker and clean it out. Then remove and flush the fill tube. If ice still appear dirty, you may to replace the water valve, the water tube and the ice maker too. I will link the parts needed and see the repair video on how to access them. https://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-whirlpool-icemaker-kit-4317943-ap2984633.html

1st = try to determine why freezer is not freezing.
fridge is cooled from freezer.
water may not be flowing because freezer is not cold enough to make ice.

Verify freezer door is closing and seals are sealing. If you slam the fridge door closed and the freezer door moves there is a problem.

same common answer.
freezer door seals or door not closing.
fridge gets cooled from freezer.
not so common, control board, compressor.
control board may have bad capacitors (bulging)
compressor may be better to replace refrig

In that model, the light switch is triggered by the door. On the lower door, the switch is on the upper, left wall of the liner.

On the freezer portion, the switch is in the top center and is similar.

The switches are triangular in shape, and can be pressed with your finger; pushing the switch turns off the light. If you haven't already changed the bulb, do so. If it still doesn't work, consider testing the switch and the power to the bulb socket.
