Yamaha 5440 optical input not working
- Ensure that the optical cable is properly connected to both the PC sound card and the receiver.
- Check that the PC sound card is outputting sound through the optical cable. You can do this by going into the sound settings on your computer and selecting the optical output as the default audio device.
- Try using a different optical cable to rule out a faulty cable as the issue.
- Check the receiver's settings to make sure that the correct input is selected for the optical input.
- If none of the above steps work, it's possible that the optical input on the receiver has malfunctioned and may require repairs or replacement.
If you're still having trouble with the optical input, it may be best to consult the user manual or contact Yamaha customer support for further assistance.
Question for Zone 3 IN Yamaha my new Yamaha Rx-v 1800
It's possible that the issue with the sound in Zone 3 on your Yamaha RX-V1800 is related to the settings on the receiver or TV. Here are a few things you can try to resolve the problem:
- Check the audio settings on the TV: Make sure that the audio output on the TV is set to "Optical" or "Digital."
- Check the audio settings on the receiver: Ensure that the audio input for Zone 3 is set to "Optical" or "Digital" and that the correct input source is selected for that zone.
- Try a different optical cable: If the cable is damaged, you may need to replace it to get sound from your TV to the receiver.
- Check for firmware updates: Yamaha may have released firmware updates for the RX-V1800 that address this issue. Visit Yamaha's website to see if any updates are available.

How to set channels for stations so they are locked to my stations
You can let the Yamaha HTR-5660 set stations for the FM band automatically. To manually set the station in one of the memory banks, first tune to the desired frequency (AM/FM band). Press Memory on the receiver. The memory light will flash for 5 seconds. Press the A/B/C/D/E to select the desired memory group while memory light is flashing. Make sure that you see the colon after the letter. Use the preset/tuning left right arrows to select the memory bank (1-8) to use in that group. This also needs to be done while the memory indicator is flashing. Press Memory to save the frequency in the desired memory location. If that memory group and bank had a station frequency stored in the location, it will be erased and the new one saved. If you do not finish the procedure before the Memory indicator stops flashing, you will have to repeat the steps.
You can recall the stored stations from either the remote or the receiver by pressing the A/B/C/D/E button multiple times (as needed) and the preset/tuning buttons. On the receiver, the A/B/C/D/E button is also the Next button. On the remote, it's the Menu/Set Menu button.
The steps for presetting stations is shown starting on page 33 of the manual,

Yamaha RX V 657 - No Sound Output, and No input detection
Bad DSP chip. The only other possibility is if you have the "Direct" on. On the front of the receiver it's a small button. Also make sure your "Speaker Select" A/B is "on" You will see it on the display, it's also a small button on the front of the receiver. If all this is correct and you still have no audio, it's a bad DSP chip. Not worth repair, it's 400-500 repair. Not very common in a Yamaha RX-V series, but I have seen it. I'm a Yamaha Dealer. If you need further help, post a comment and I will be glad to help you further.
Yamaha RX V1000 powers on fine but puts out no sound at all.
It sounds like the Yamaha RX V1000 is not properly outputting sound from the speakers. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
- Check the volume: Make sure the volume is turned up on the receiver and on the connected source (such as a TV or Blu-ray player).

There is normally a capacitor on the back of the display that may fail. They normally get dimmer until you can't see anything. Replacing it should fix it.

Have you tried to see if there is a fuse connection on the back of your receiver?
How do I reset the protection circuitry on Yamaha RX-A820?
press and hold the 'tone control' and 'info' buttons and press power. This will release the protect. The first thing that show on the display will be the protect code to tell you why it shut down. If it turns right back off, then you most likely have a short in the amp that will need to be repaired.
Yamaha RX V671 will not turn on anymore after a power outage
The protection mode has activated.Reset the protection mode as follows and see what happens.Connect power cord to mains and wait 5 seconds or so. While holding down "info" and "tone control" buttons, press "main zone" power button briefly and release, but keep "info" and "tone control" buttons pressed for at least 3 more seconds. The unit should power up. Assuming the reason for the protection has passed or been fixed, the unit can now be turned off and then back on with the "main zone" power button to restore normal operation mode.If the protector activates again, the fault is still present and the unit needs to be repaired, ideally by a Yamaha authorised repairer. There are dangerous voltages present in high power amps and a lot of grunt in terms of stored energy - best left to trained technicians.
"Check Speaker Wire" error on my Yamaha Receiver
found the source of the problem with "Check SP Wires"! to solve it is necessary to check each speaker connected to the device Yamaha on the rear panel (red and black) using the device for determining the number of ohms, which shall not be less than 4 ohms, in large passive speakers experienced in Amfitone AU-027, the result showed that left at 0.45 (7) ohms, and the right-hand column, as such, no.
The successful test ... and good music!
